Leaving your comfort zone will teach you so much about yourself.
It will teach you what you tolerated.
It will show you what you took for granted.
It will help you discover what’s important to you… and what isn’t.
It will highlight things you never want back.
And it will crack you wide open.
When you really want to “know thyself” at the deepest level, nothing will get you there quite as fast as walking away from your comfort zone.
And I don’t just mean leaving your environment or moving across the country like we did.
When I say “leave your comfort zone” I literally mean the things you use as your security blanket. Your buffers. Like…
•That alcohol on a stressful day.
•The toxic relationship you know isn’t serving you.
•Eating because you’re sad or bored, not because you’re hungry.
•That phone that’s distracting you from your emotions.
•The shopping habit that keeps you from thinking about your problems.
Our comfort zones are comfortable for a reason. Many times, they are pacifying the deeper work that feels painful to us.
When you walk away from your comfort, you really learn a lot about yourself. But to do so means you must have self-awareness… and a willingness to experience the emotions that will come with walking away.
Get comfortable being uncomfortable & you will be well on your way of “coming home” to yourself.
